Moments, Memory, and the Courage to Grow
Time goes so fast and moments are fleeting. But we can hold onto the memories.
I was asked how I recalled all the conversations from my memoir during the writing process.
Sitting, in the quiet I could imagine a smile or color and the feeling the conversation gave me at the time. Sometimes, the memories came back to me in my sleep and I would wake up and immediately write the thought down.
It was a love story I needed to share.
Seed of a Dream
The palm holds
the Fragile
delicate seed
Endless possibilities
Eyes closed,
Hands shaking
Like a roll of the dice
Do I chose to discard?
Watch the tiny dream
fall to the earth and shrivel
Do I consume
nourish myself for one single pleasure
One gulp
One swallow
The idea of seeing this through is unbearable at times
What is this need to plant it?
Why?
To rise
Rise above the dirt
To pull oneself up
From the hurt
So determined
Set in stone
The path made clear
The layer around my heart
No longer in fear
I’m currently learning A LOT about sharing my story and the positive and negative aspects of putting oneself out into the public space. There are beautiful moments, like connection and unexpected kindness. But difficult ones too, like cold comments, assumptions and silent judgments.
I feel the looks
I sense the unspoken
I absorb the energy in the air.
My skin is not thicker, but I do stand taller and proud of the life I’m living.
I realize being sensitive is a strength not a weakness.
The Mermaid League was created to be a space where people can be vulnerable to express that yes, I’m human and I have purpose and a story to tell.
I hope as time continues; you will be inspired to share a story with the community. To lift others up with words, an image or smile. Beautiful gifts that become memories.
Thank you for all the love and support,
